Amenities to Search For When Booking an RV Park Site

Amenities to look for at RV Parks and campgrounds

You’re packed up and about to head out on an RV road trip with your family. Everyone is looking forward to the adventure and spending quality time together. One of the things that will enhance your adventure is finding parks or campgrounds that have all the amenities you want.

One of the important keys to a hassle free vacation is reserving all your stopover and final destination sites in advance. Some RV parks book up a year in advance if they’re near a popular destination, such as Yellowstone Holiday near Yellowstone National Park.

Websites tell a great deal about a park, but not everything. Don’t hesitate to call with any particular questions you have that aren’t answered by looking at the sites. You’ll also find it helpful to check out the reviews for any property you’re considering.

Use this list as a guide to the amenities you should look for when reserving sites at RV parks or campgrounds.

Find out in advance if the sites are concrete, stone, or dirt (this will matter for heavier trailers  & RVs).

Full hook-ups are important (water, electric, and sewer).

Shower and restroom facilities are nice, especially for larger families.

If you have kids or are staying for an extended time, you may want laundry facilities.

Check to see if there grills, picnic tables and fire pits at each site.

Are there particular check-in/out times?

One of the most important issues for families with children, find out if there are quiet hours enforced at night.

Now let’s get to the fun stuff! After traveling for any distance, it’s nice to stay where there are things to do and see.

Look for parks with swimming pools, ponds or lake

Are there any activities or events for children or families?

Is there a camp store or restaurant on site?

Are there hiking/biking trails?

Check out the area around the park and find out the best things to see and do so you don’t miss any highlights.

Last, (and one of the most important if you’re traveling with a pet), find out if the park is pet-friendly and any restrictions that may be in place.
