Texas Renaissance Festival Welcomes Campers

Texas Renaissance Camping

The annual Texas Renaissance Festival has dedicated 230 acres to adult and family camping areas. The festival runs September 29th through November 25th. Campers are welcome Thursday afternoons through Monday mornings. RVs, travel trailers and tents are welcome, there are also cabins and tents for rent.

Visit Texrenfest.com/camping where you’ll find loads of information about the Fields of New Market Campground.

It’s impressive to see how they have segregated a family camping area away from the Revels Camping area. Revels camping is where social groups gather around the famous Saturday night bonfire and celebrate well into the wee hours of the morning. The Family Camping has a Saturday night bonfire as well, however, it’s a more relaxed atmosphere.

On the festival website, users are able to reserve an RV/trailer site, a furnished tent or a cabin.

The RV sites are leveled gravel and are approximately 20′ x 60′ which will accommodate almost any size trailer or motorhome. There is plenty of room for vehicle parking as well. These sites are reserved early, so call ahead to reserve yours. The sites run approximately $50 per weekend

There is a limited number of cabins, but they are building more, so this is a great option as well. The cabins are all located in the open Family Camping area. They start at $215 per night + hotel tax (2-night minimum). The 3rd and 4th nights are only $50/per night. Each cabin is furnished with up to 4 cots, a night stand, lighting, air-conditioning and a private port-o-let. You bring your own bedding (pillows, sheets, blankets). Cabin doors and windows can be locked for added security. Each cabin has it’s own reserved parking spot.

There are 50 Glamping Tents offered in the Revels Camping area. Each is furnished, with an option for two twin or one queen size mattress. Guests bring their own bedding. There is an area rug, two chairs, a table and battery-operated lighting in each tent. One of the perks with a tenet rental is an attendant to help you settle in. We like this concierge service!

There is additional information that’s good to know in advance regarding the Fields of New Market Campground.

The cost of admission to the campground is $30/per vehicle at the gate and $25/per vehicle online. Each person must also have a valid ticket or pass to the Texas Renaissance Festival.

There are two general stores that offer almost anything you might have forgotten (or want), the Drag-on Buy and The Drag-on Inn. You’ll find the Drag-on Buy in the Provisioner’s Pavilion, in the Revels Camping area. Food and beverage services as well as other amenities in the pavilion area.

You’ll find potable water stations located near the entry gates and there are portable restrooms located conveniently throughout the campground. You can even rent a private port-o-let if you can in advance (936-577-1152).

There are toilets and a full-service shower house that operates on a “token system.” Guests buy tokens from the general store. The shower times are posted so you’re not inconvenienced.

RV dump stations are provided free of charge and can be found near the front gates of the campground.

A nice perk for those reserving a cabin by the Tuesday prior to your visit: you receive free campground entry for one vehicle
